Salesforce import checker

Check a CSV against the Data Import Wizard before you run it.

Free for 10 runs a day.

The Salesforce import check on a contact file: row 2 Business Phone fixed in file, row 3 E-mail Address row skipped, row 4 E-mail Address duplicate.

Rows the wizard rejects

A lead needs a last name and a company. An email the wizard cannot verify stops the record. So does a value past the field’s length.

This checker reads every row against those rules and fixes what it can.

Start from the fields Salesforce maps

Full Name next to First Name confuses the mapping. Checkboxes take 1 and 0. Dates must match your own locale.

Questions about Salesforce imports

How many records can the Data Import Wizard take?

Up to 50,000 records a file, 90 fields a record and 100 MB, in CSV only.

What fields does Salesforce require?

A lead needs Last Name and Company. A contact needs Last Name. An account needs Account Name.

Why are my imported dates wrong?

The wizard reads dates in the format of your user locale. A file written day first imports the wrong way round under a US locale.

How does the wizard handle duplicates?

It matches on what you pick: Salesforce ID, name, email or an external ID. Pick None and every row becomes a new record.

How do I import checkboxes?

Use 1 for checked and 0 for unchecked.
