What happens when you merge in Dedupely for Pipedrive
Merges keep the oldest ID but use the newest field values. Dedupely respects that logic while letting you set rules, run in bulk, and preview outcomes.

Many teams assume that whichever record has the most complete data will win. However, in Pipedrive, merge behavior is based on two fixed priorities: the oldest record ID and the most recently updated fields.
Dedupely mirrors this native logic, but adds control, consistency, and options for override.
Here’s how it works:
- The record with the lowest ID is preserved as the primary record
- For most fields, Pipedrive favors newer (more recently updated) values
- Emails and phone numbers are always merged, not overwritten
- All associations (contacts, attachments, meetings, notes) are preserved and linked to the final record
Dedupely uses this foundation and builds on it:
- You can apply merge rules to editable fields to control priority directly
- Read-only fields (system-locked, calculated, or date-based) won’t accept overrides; Pipedrive’s behavior still applies
- When unsure, use custom merge to review what values will carry over manually
This approach ensures your merges stay consistent with what Pipedrive expects, but lets you shape the outcome where it matters.
To merge in Pipedrive without losing key data:
- Expect the newest field updates to win, unless merge rules say otherwise
- Set merge rules to ensure priority fields behave the way you need
- Use custom merge to review high-impact values before confirming
- Clean up obvious matches first, then apply bulk or AutoMerge confidently
Dedupely doesn’t replace how Pipedrive merges, it scales it. You get consistent logic, editable control, and no disruption to your fields or processes. With rules set once, bulk merges and one-off reviews fall into place. The result is clean, accurate records, without the manual lift.
