## Merge history

Every merge performed in Dedupely is recorded and accessible through the **History** page. Whether you’re reviewing past activity or troubleshooting a merge, your history gives you the visibility you need to stay in control.
This guide covers how to view, search, and export your merge records, and what to do if you need to recover a merge.

### Viewing merge history

To view your past merges:
- Open Merge History from the left menu.
- Use the dropdown at the top to filter by **record type** (e.g., Contacts, Companies, Deals).
-
Search by **record name** or
**merge date** to quickly find what you’re looking for.
Dedupely displays key fields for each merged record to help you quickly review the results.
Drill down into merges: Click on any entry will open a pop-up window showing:
- All the records involved in that specific merge.
- The **merge result** as it now appears in your CRM.
- The **winning values** that were preserved during the merge.
This provides a clear before-and-after view of what changed and helps confirm accuracy.
Note: Merge History shows a simplified view. To access full record details, use the export function.

### Exporting merge history

You can download your full merge history as a CSV file for external review or backup. This export will include the original values for each duplicate record that was merged.
This is especially helpful if:
- You want to audit past merges.
- You need to restore previous record versions manually in your CRM.
Important: Linked items such as notes, activities, and associations **are not included** in the merge history export and cannot be restored through Dedupely.

### Undoing a merge

Dedupely does **not** offer an automatic “undo” button for merges. This is due to the technical limitations of two-way CRM syncing and data integrity protections.
If you need to recover a mistakenly merged group:
- **Download the merge history** CSV file.
- Use the original record values to **recreate the duplicates manually** in your CRM.
Once recreated, return to Dedupely and **merge them again correctly** using your preferred method.
